ALIPATE Carlile has been named in Port Adelaide’s side to host the GWS Giants at AAMI Stadium on Saturday night.

Carlile missed last week’s match against Melbourne due to a hamstring complaint.

But having been made available at the start of the week, Carlile will line up in his traditional full back position.

He replaces Andrew Moore who has been omitted from the side and will play for aligned club North Adelaide in the SANFL.

Senior coach Ken Hinkley says it was important to get Carille back into the side as soon as he was physically fit.

“It’s really important to have a good key-position back, back into the side,” Hinkley told portadelaidefc.com.au.

“Bobby (Carlile) is a really important part of our backline and it’s great that he’s been made available to return.

“Obviously for Andrew Moore he’s lost his place in the side and is an unlucky player to go out after a really strong win against Melbourne.”

Hinkley says the Power will not rest on its laurels when taking on the Giants, despite last week’s 79-point opening round win over Melbourne.

The Giants and Power are the youngest and second-youngest teams in the competition respectively, and Hinkley says it will provide a high-quality contest on Saturday night.

“We’ve seen what the Giants have been able to do in their short time and they did really well last week against Sydney so we expect a tough game against them,” he said.

“They also beat us last time so we need to make sure we’re at our very best.

The game will serve as Port Adelaide’s opportunity to pay tribute to John McCarthy who passed away after the 2012 season and also the 100th game for vice-captain Brad Ebert.

Hinkley says it is important that as many supporters as possible get to the game.

“It’s really important that we get a big home ground to support the boys. We’ve demonstrated how hard we’ve worked over the summer with everything they’ve been able to do.”

“It will be nice for our fans to come out and support the boys, show their appreciation for Round 1 and show they’re going to be here for the whole time.”

Port Adelaide members can see the club’s final training session before Saturday night’s game at 10.00am on Friday at AAMI Stadium.
