The Power battled all day against the Cats in the rain at Simonds Stadium but could not catch the home side as Geelong fought out a comfortable 38-point victory. The Power struggled to get into the game but the likes of Matthew Lobbe and Tom Jonas showed their worth as emerging young players.

Final word
Geelong is Port Adelaide’s biggest challenge of the ‘pre-bye period’ of this season.
Port has not defeated the Cats since its famous dying-moments win at Simonds Stadium back in 2007.
Since then the Cats have won three flags and maintained a regular position in the top four of the competition, while the Power has gone through a significant rebuilding phase.
Although the Power holds a place in the top eight after the first eight rounds of the season, Geelong remains the benchmark of the competition, having been undefeated until last week.
The Cats will be out firing, but equally so will be the Power.
On the back of three consecutive losses, Port is now battling half the competition for spots ranging from third to twelfth on the ladder.
Ken Hinkley has called on his players to be brave ‘more than ever’ and to take the game on against the Cats.
He said execution of skills is the key to victory this weekend, and that turnovers will be punished by Geelong’s polished side.
Despite being rank outsiders, expect to see a desperate Power side come out fighting this weekend.
