Wines and O’Shea have been extended for two more years and will call Alberton home until at least the end of the 2016 season, while Westhoff and Pittard have signed longer three-year extensions until the end of 2017.
The deals come on the back of Travis Boak, Hamish Hartlett, Brad Ebert, Jake Neade and Jay Schulz being secured at the end of 2013.
It’s an emphatic vote of confidence in the regime guiding Port Adelaide and follows a number of other important announcements, including the securing of EnergyAustralia as a joint major partner along with Renault Australia.
But it is the quality of talent that has signed these extensions that will get Power supporters buzzing.
Wines, 19, played every game of his debut season and was nominated for the NAB AFL Rising Star award in his first game.
He played both finals against Collingwood and Geelong and was labelled the ‘Raging Bull’ by his senior coach Ken Hinkley.
His teammates labelled him ‘Quadzilla’ for the well-proportioned physique he arrived at the club with; quadriceps the size of tree trunks.
Famously his own mother, Jane, told Melbourne radio on the eve of the Power’s finals campaign her son had arrived at ‘football heaven’ despite fears he was going to a sporting hell when drafted at the end of 2012.
He has come into his own, but admittedly has a long way to go in AFL football. The two-year extension will give him plenty of opportunity to develop under Ken Hinkley.
Wines told portadelaidefc.com.au the extension of his contract was only a matter of time and he was pleased to commit to a club that was now a ‘home away from home’.
“It probably wasn’t playing on my mind too much, although I did cop a bit of flack on Twitter for not signing up yet,” Wines said.
“I wanted to be patient with it and make sure I was fully comfortable being over here.
“My time at the club has been fantastic so far and I’m really comfortable with where I’m at.”
Wines has completed every pre-season session in the leadup to 2014 and, while challenged by the gruelling program of high performance manager Darren Burgess, is excited about what the future holds for his time at the club.
“It’s been pretty tough; last year I did 70-75% and this year I haven’t missed a session.
“It is really reassuring when you go out there to know your body can get through the games and 'power-out' the final quarter.
“While it’s been tough, it’s also been really good.”
The 21-year-old O'Shea had a breakout year in 2014.
He too played every game of the season after finding himself back in the SANFL midway through 2012. As a hard-running defender, O’Shea now forms a crucial part of the Power’s back six and spoke highly of the impact Ken Hinkley has had on his development.
Now one of the Power’s most efficient ball-users, he will be an important part of the aggressive running game plan his coach wants to play in 2014 and beyond.
“Ken has been really influential on me and encouraged me to take the game on and get the little things right,” O’Shea told portadelaidefc.com.au.
“It has been really good having a guy of his knowledge work with me, as well as a guy like Matthew Nicks [defensive coach] working with all of us down back.
“I’m really looking forward to the next couple of years here at the club.”
Of significance is the securing of Justin Westhoff’s signature, undoubtedly one of the most important players on Port Adelaide’s list.
While he burst onto the scene as a fresh-faced 18-year-old in 2007 with multiple goals to his name, Westhoff has evolved both as a player and leader to be one of the Power’s most flexible utilities.
Capable of playing in his customary half-forward role as well as a capable outside midfielder and pinch-hitting ruckman, Westhoff is likely to see out his career at Alberton.
“It would be nice to be a one-club player, being from SA and staying here playing AFL is very much a dream come true,” Westhoff told portadelaidefc.com.au
“There’s a few exciting years to come.
“Ken’s put a lot of confidence in me to play a variety of roles, which is something I enjoy.
“With him around for a few more years, I’m hoping to evolve my game more.”

There, the club will host South Adelaide for an SANFL trial at 9:45am, before the main show between the Power and Saints at 12:30pm.
Tickets cost just $10 for members and $15 for non-members, while children under 18 are admitted free.
