FIRST-YEAR ruckman Billy Frampton has been added to Port Adelaide’s long-term injury list and will spend around eight weeks in recovery.

Recruited from South Fremantle with pick 84 – the Power’s last – in the most recent NAB AFL Draft, Frampton came to Alberton already suffering from compartment syndrome in his shin.

He had surgery to rectify the issue in December and will now take time to continue his recovery on a modified rehabilitation program, according to head of high performance Darren Burgess.

“Billy played through most of last year with this shin issue so we decided surgery at the end of last year was the best action for him,” Burgess told portadelaidefc.com.au.

“We see him as a long-term player with the club so this was an opportunity to address the problem and take a slow, cautious approach with him.

“I’d expect him to be right on the eight-week mark for a return to full training.”
