PORT Adelaide has paid to appeal the three-week ban issued to Andrew Moore by the SANFL Tribunal.
The midfielder pleaded guilty to making intentional contact with field umpire Craig Fleer at quarter time of Saturday's Round 3 SANFL game at Alberton Oval.
The tribunal did not accept Moore's statement that no malice was intended in the act as he attempted to demonstrate a previous incident with North player Heath Caldwell.
Fleer told the tribunal the incident was “something totally minor”, and he was not aware contact had been made until it was pointed out to him by fellow umpires following the match.
SANFL tribunal chairman Ian White said the panel had to "take a stance" against Moore for the action.
