PORT ADELAIDE’S 23-point loss to Geelong at Adelaide Oval on Friday night has been further soured by a "significant" right hamstring injury to speedster Matt White.
White was helped from the field in the second term and was subbed out of the contest.
The Power won't know the exact severity of the injury until White has scans on the hamstring on Monday, but coach Ken Hinkley indicated the 28-year-old could miss up to a month of football.
Port has a bye in round 13, so a month off would allow White to return against Adelaide in round 16 at the earliest.
"Hamstring, significant I'd suggest given the way he came off. ‘Whitey's’ got some speed, so I would suggest he'd be missing for a chunk," Hinkley said.
"I'm not sure exactly [how many weeks] but 3-4 weeks, a typical hamstring I would have thought."
Hinkley said his side continued to lack composure when in possession, leading to poor disposal efficiency and turnovers that caught his players out of position.
The Power kicked the ball out of bounds on the full nine times on Friday night compared to just once for Geelong.
Hinkley felt that lopsided statistic was part lack of composure and part skill on Geelong's behalf to force opposition sides to commit the error.
The coach insists his team has what it takes to deliver on pre-season expectations, but is being hurt by its up and down form.
"We're inconsistent within games, within quarters and within blocks of the season," he said.
"Even this year we've had patches where we're reasonably comfortable with what we've been able to do, and then we've had patches where we're really disappointed.
"We're really clear on what we need to do – we're just not executing.
"That's one of our battles, we've just got to be prepared to follow the path that we're on."
