BLUES’ midfielder Bryce Gibbs will face at least a two-match suspension for a rough tackle against Robbie Gray during Saturday’s clash at the MCG.
Gray suffered a mild concussion in the second term after being slung him to the ground, hitting his head on the turf.
The Port Adelaide star was taken by stretcher from the ground and left sidelined for the remainder of the game.
Gray later passed a concussion test, has made a full recovery and is in no doubt for the Power’s next game against Sydney, following the bye.
ROUND 12 INJURY UPDATE
Gibbs was apologetic, telling Channel 9 he meant no malice.
“I didn’t really want to see him go down like that. No one wants to see other blokes get carried off on a stretcher,” he told Channel 9 post-game.
Port Adelaide forward Chad Wingard also defended the Gibbs, suggesting it was just an unlucky incident.
"Every side does that, it's just the game – you try and physically get into players, it doesn't matter who it is,” Wingard said.
"It's just unlucky he [Gray] had his arms pinned and couldn't really brace himself.”
The offence was classified as a three-match sanction, but with an early plea Gibbs will face a two-match penalty.
