FOOTY will return to the SCG this Thursday night when the Power takes on 2014 grand finalists Sydney.

portadelaidefc.com.au takes a look at who’s in the mix for selection for Round 14 for both sides.

Port Adelaide
The bye week break has given an extra recovery opportunity for Paddy Ryder, whose Achilles has healed. He’s ready to be named in the side, providing ruck duty aid to Matthew Lobbe and another target in the forward line.

Port Adelaide’s head of high performance Darren Burgess told portadelaidefc.com.au Ryder is feeling very confident about his return.

“Getting the bye in is good, he did a match simulation last week and completed it really, really well, we’re confident he’ll get through,” Burgess said.

INJURY: Round 13 update

Robbie Gray has also fully recovered from a concussion suffered in the second term of the Power’s clash with Carlton, before the bye.

Karl Amon returned to the field on Sunday in the SANFL loss to the Crows after spending two weeks sidelined with a calf complaint. His impressive Magpies performance (23 disposals, seven rebound 50s) could earn him an AFL recall to the Power’s forward line.

Paul Stewart picked up 32 disposals and 14 marks in the same game, while Sam Gray impressed with 31 disposals and six clearances - both could prove valuable to the Power’s attack.

Meanwhile in the SANFL Johann Wagner will be available to play North Adelaide after recovering from a corked thigh.

Sydney
The Swans will be without key forwards Lance Franklin and Kurt Tippett in Round 14; both accepted one-week sanctions from the MRP following incidents during their loss to Richmond.

Swans coach John Longmire said the suspended duo could be replaced by swingman Sam Reid and utility Dean Towers.

"Sam's obviously played centre half-forward for us for a fair bit of time since he's been at the Swans," Longmire said.

"We know he's capable of being in our front half, he's done it before, and I'm sure if he needed to, and we went that way, he could go forward again.”

Towers has been flagged as another candidate to bolster a smaller, faster forward line, along with up-and-coming young forward Brandon Jack.

Meanwhile Adam Goodes was cleared of any wrongdoing for contact with Taylor Hunt and will be available to play.

Ruckman Mike Pyke and Ben McGlynn are also in the mix to return this week after overcoming respective knee and hamstring injuries.
