THE STAKES
Port Adelaide are sitting 12th on the ladder and need to kick start its season now. Sitting two wins outside the eight, the stakes are high as Port prepares for a tough month on the field. After a loss to Richmond last weekend, Sydney has to get back on the winners list to solidify their place in the top four.
THE STOCKS
Paddy Ryder will make his long-awaited return this week, finally recovering from the Achilles injury that has kept him off the field since round eight. Robbie Gray has recovered from the concussion he suffered before the bye and will take the field. For the Swans, they will be without their big men up forward, with Kurt Tippett and Buddy Franklin both accepting one-match bans and giving coach John Longmire some selection headaches.
THE HISTORY
Sydney is another of Port Adelaide’s bogey sides, with the Swans winning 11 out of the last 12 matches the two have played. The last time the sides met was in Round 2 of this year, where Sydney stormed to a 48-point win at Adelaide Oval.
THE VIBE
With Port Adelaide sitting lower than expected after the first half of the year, all eyes will be on whether it can turn around this season, starting this weekend. With a depleted Sydney forward line, the Power will be looking to capitalise.
