FOUR QUARTERS
THE STAKES
Every game is crucial for Port Adelaide, which will only keep its finals hopes alive by winning games. Sitting 12th, a win could bring Port to 10th while a loss could drop them to 14th. The Crows are a win outside the top eight, and will be keen to jump ahead of the rest of the teams in the middle of the AFL pack.
THE STOCKS
Port Adelaide’s injury list remains in good shape, although Jasper Pittard is an omission with an ankle injury. Tom Jonas was again held over with a quad issue following his omission against the Pies, while Alipate Carlile will be out for a few weeks with back and hip problems. Adelaide has a number of players making returns from long term injuries.
THE HISTORY
The Showdown has been played 38 times, with Port Adelaide having a 21-17 lead in the head-to-head. The last time they played was Round 5 this year, where Jay Schulz kicked five goals and Paddy Ryder three in Port Adelaide’s 24-point win.
THE VIBE
Never before has there been a Showdown with this much emotion in the build up, save perhaps for the first first encounter between these clubs. In front of a full Adelaide Oval, there is the potential for this to be one of the best Showdown matches ever.
