TWO changes have been made for Port Adelaide’s last game of the AFL season while three players have been brought into the club’s qualifying final team to play West on Sunday afternoon.
Jay Schulz will return from the back complaint that has hampered him at the back end of the season, while Jake Neade will play against Freo having missed last weekend’s 37-point victory over Gold Coast due to family reasons.
A UNIQUE RECORD: Port Adelaide’s indigenous players to equal record
If no late changes occur, Port Adelaide’s Round 23 team will equal the record – coincidentally held by Fremantle – for the most number of Aboriginal player to participate in a game for one team.
That record of seven players was set back in 2003 when the Dockers played the Swans in Round 4.
Angus Monfries and Aaron Young have been omitted from last week’s winning team.
One change to Magpies line-up for qualifying final
Johann Wagner is the only omission from the team that defeated West in last week’s season-closing dress rehearsal for Sunday’s qualifying final against the Bloods.
Sidelined by a shin problem, Wagner will be replaced by one of either Robbie Young, Anthony Biemans or Jack Haarsma.
While the Magpies will submit their final team along with West before Sunday’s final, any of the three squad inclusions would be a strong replacement.
Biemans has trained well to recover from a knee injury that kept him out of the final games of the Magpies’ season, while Robbie Young has also returned successfully from a hamstring injury.
Haarsma was also the recent third-placed poller in the reserves Magarey Medal.
The Magpies play the Bloods at the Adelaide Oval on Sunday at 3:10pm.
Two of the three squad inclusions not selected in the final team will play North Adelaide in the SANFL Reserves Qualifying Final at Gliderol Stadium on Saturday morning.
