OLLIE Wines is officially the most impactful youth to have played at Port Adelaide since 2006, after the 21-year-old took home his third consecutive Gavin Wanganeen Medal as the Power’s best player under the age of 21.
At least that’s what his trophy cabinet would suggest, the Echuca native having completed an unprecedented hattrick of best young player awards.
No player has yet won the club’s best 'under 21' award, named after its former captain and premiership hero, three times since it was inaugurated in 2006.
The unparalleled achievement comes after he suffered two injuries in 2015, which significantly limited his game time throughout the season.
Prior to his injuries, he became the fastest player to clock 50 AFL games for the Power, having played every game possible since his drafting at the end of 2012.
Jake Neade and Jarman Impey were fellow nominees for the award.
Wines will be ineligible for the award next year.
