PORT ADELAIDE has launched a second edition of its sell-out picture book Since 1870.
Featuring 40 new photos from the last five years, Since 1870 now chronicles the journey of the club from Football Park back to the Adelaide Oval.
Iconic pictures such as the moment Chad Wingard won Port Adelaide the final ever Showdown at AAMI Stadium, the siren after Paul Stewart kicked a goal to put Port in front with seconds on the clock against the Kangaroos in 2012, and the historic first AFL game at the Adelaide Oval in 2011 are just some of those included in the expanded new edition.
It will be launched at a special event at the Port Club at Queen Street, Alberton on Wednesday 16 December at 6:30pm, with Chad Wingard, Gavin Wanganeen, Russell Ebert, Kane Cornes and several other former players in attendance for book signings.
Since 1870 editor Daniel Norton says the popularity of the book after the first edition went out of print led to the decision to launch a second edition.
ICONIC: Images like this famous 1977 premiership celebration are some of the most popular in Since 1870
"We originally released the book to celebrate 140 years of the club and its reunification at the start of 2011," Norton said.
"We'd sold out of all 5000 copies by the start of this year, and we regularly had supporters coming into the Port Store wanting to buy their copy.
"So due to the high demand, we decided to publish a new edition with 40 extra photos detailing the last five years of the club's history, including the Ken Hinkley era and the move to Adelaide Oval.
"This as a must for every Port Adelaide supporter, a celebration of our proud history - the heroes, the high flyers and great marks, our greatest moments, the emotion of the game and, most importantly, our supporters."
Norton still loves the iconic photo of Port Adelaide's 1977 premiership celebration, but says a photo sequence of Chad Wingard's 2014 Mark of the Year winner is his pick of the new moments included in the second edition.
"But of the new photos, I love the image of Chad Wingard's mark of the year at the Adelaide Oval in 2014. We've got four frames of the moment capturing that unforgettable mark perfectly."
Since 1870 retails for $69.95 or $59.95 for members at The Port Store.
