CHARLIE Dixon and Chad Wingard are set to make their first appearance in the 2016 NAB Challenge this Thursday after overcoming injury setbacks.
Head of high performance Darren Burgess confirmed Dixon has made a strong recovery from meniscus surgery and will be available for selection against the Tigers – although his game time will be managed conservatively.
“He’ll probably play modified game time against Richmond, depending on how he’s going,” Burgess told Portadelaidefc.com.au.
Chad Wingard has also been given the clear by the fitness team after being omitted from Port Adelaide’s clash with Melbourne last week with hamstring soreness.
“Chad’s in great shape, he completed training today, so we’re confident he’ll be available to play against Richmond,” Burgess said.
Meanwhile Tom Clurey’s recovery from a foot injury is being monitored closely, with an expected return to training within the first four rounds of the season.
He was excused from the club’s photo day on Monday to rest up.
“He’s got foot issue that were investigating, he’s going to have a few weeks off his legs,” Burgess said.
