PORT ADELAIDE’s Showdown XL preparation has hit a late hurdle, with the withdrawal of both Jay Schulz and Hamish Hartlett with injury.

Hartlett suffered hamstring soreness at training during the week and was unable to be declared fit at the Power’s final fitness test on Friday morning.

Schulz suffered a back complaint following the Power's match against St Kilda and was also withdrawn from the team.

"Schulzy pulled up sore from St Kilda [game] and couldn't get through training on Wednesday," Power coach Ken Hinkley told portadelaidefc.com.au.

"Hamish had a bit of hamstring awareness, but at this early stage of the season we don't want to take risks with injury."

Dougal Howard will make his AFL debut in place of Schulz, with Aaron Young also coming into the team for Hartlett.

Darcy Byrne-Jones and Paul Stewart have been elevated to the Power’s emergency list.
