portadelaidefc.com.au looks at the three most dangerous players at the Crows this Saturday.
SAM JACOBS
This big man is a former Showdown Medallist and seems to lift any time he plays the Power. One of the top rated players in the competition (ranked 14th overall), he is an ever-present danger for any opponent.
The 202cm, 102kg big man averages 31 hit outs per game across his career, which spikes to 33 against the Power, 36 in the last three Showdowns and a huge 51 the last time these two sides met.
There's no doubting - Port Adelaide will need to be mindful of him around the ground on Saturday arvo.
SCOTT THOMPSON
A Showdown master, whether he's winning gongs after the game or simply having a ball-winning impact around the ground, Thompson enjoys the local derby.
The veteran Crow is extra important for them this year given the absence of exited midfielder Patrick Dangerfield. Approaching his 300th game, Thompson is like Adelaide's answer to Power skipper Travis Boak - capable of winning the ball, applying pressure on oppo ball-carriers (he ranked 13th in the league for tackles in 2015) and masterful at stoppages (ranked 7th in the league).
DANIEL TALIA
He'll have a job to do on Charlie Dixon and it promises to be an intriguing battle with both players critical to their chances. Playing in his 100th AFL game, Talia will look to shut down the Power's big forward.
He's one of the league's most desperate players - ranking high for one-percenters (spoils, smothers, knock-ons - the things your junior coach wanted you to do) - and working hard to make a contest of every encounter with his opponent. This will be a good test for Charlie Dixon.
Port Adelaide plays the Crows in Showdown XL at the Adelaide Oval at 1.15pm on Saturday 2 April.
