1. This guy is the man of the month...
Give the bloke a Rising Star nod. Darcy Byrne-Jones has had a great month for the Power since debuting against Essendon. Averaging 19.3 touches a game, his pressure around the ground was on show against the Tigers once more. His Grayesque turn-and-collect and a gutsy attempt to spoil Ty Vickery (a man 20cm taller than him) in a one-on-one contest were great examples of effort on Saturday. He's been one of Port's most consistent in the last four games.
2. Ken Hinkley's secret remedy is...
Sending a bloke back to the SANFL? There's a reasonable body of evidence to back the decision to give some players a spell from AFL. Jared Polec responded perfectly to his state league sabbatical, Brendon Ah Chee was solid and Jarman Impey ran amok up forward. Perhaps the answer to indifferent form is to make a statement at selection?
On a slightly different note, it's also worth mentioning Nathan Krakouer, who returned strongly having played just one SANFL game this year.
3. This man is leading the Power's best and fairest race
We've got no idea what the B&F count is, but Jasper Pittard surely continues to march forward atop the Power's club champion ladder. His consistency has been unparalleled from six games and was again among Port's best against the Tigers. In fairness to Matt Broadbent and Jared Polec, the mantle for best-on-ground could be given to any of them, but Pittard's April has been delightful.
4. Still chasing perfection
While True Believers would have slept easier knowing the Power can string four quarters together - especially with a patched-together side - there's still work to do.
Richmond's fast starts had the game precariously balanced at the start of the first two quarters. The Tigers were certainly in the game until the Power raced away in the final term.
While the Power's skill level didn't peak on Saturday night, and the players were out of sorts early, they can take solace from their ability to settle well and grind out the win.
But there is no doubt Hinkley would have returned to Adelaide with a taste for improvement.
