Jackson Trengove
“The disappointing part for us was having them in a really good position in that last quarter, to then lose by three points. We still had opportunities in the last quarter to win the game. We’ll review it on Monday and improve from there, going over to WA and hopefully grabbing a win.
“I think we had 60 percent in our forward half in that first half of the game, so it was a good start but we just weren’t able to convert as well as we would’ve liked to get a lead going into the second half.
“Charlie is a big focus, but I think we were able to use our other players up forward. Whether it’s his marking contest or whether he brings it from the ground, I think that creates opportunities for our small forwards like Jars, Chaddy and Neadey. So the work Charlie’s been doing for our footy club has been super this year.”
Robbie Gray
“We had opportunities around stoppage, especially around first possession, and we coughed it up. They hurt us going the other way at times, they really made the most of their opportunities.
“Stringer is a quality player and the backs did a pretty good job on him earlier, I felt. They [the Dogs] put him up to try and get him in the action a bit. He’s a super player and it’s hard to hold those guys down all day. He managed to kick a couple late and it really hurt us.
“Kenny was pretty pleased with the effort. In a lot of key areas we held up really well. The Dogs are one of the best defensive sides in the competition – they’re always hard to score against so we had to try and make the most of our opportunities when we could. We had a lot of scoring shots, but we weren’t able to make the most of those as much as we would have liked.”
Sam Gray
“We can be proud of the four-quarter effort. We’ve said we’ve been building for a while now…we can be proud of the effort but we’re really disappointed - 1 or 2 per cent off and the good teams will get you like that.
“They got ontop of us late in the last quarter. Their stoppage score [was good] – they got a few too many goals out of there. Their stoppages were a bit cleaner and that’s probably what hurt us in the end.
“The Doggies are a physical team and that’s what we’ve also been trying to be for the last four or five weeks. We knew entering the game it was going to be really physical and come down to the wire.”
