THERE’S no sympathy in football royalty – just ask the Ebert family.
We all remember when Brad Ebert went down like a ton of bricks during Thursday night’s clash with the Hawks. Incase you've forgotten...here it is:
EBERT UPDATE
— Port Adelaide FC (@PAFC) July 7, 2016
Ebo won't return tonight. He's been taken to hospital as a precaution after this: https://t.co/zEzhXuX9wY #AFLPowerHawks
He’d flown high to take a spectacular mark, only to hit the turf on the way down with such force that he started coughing up blood.
Ebert was withdrawn from the game and taken to hospital for precautionary checks, leaving the Port Adelaide faithful very concerned.
But rumour has it Brad’s mum, Christine – daughter of Port Adelaide Margarey Medallist Trevor Obst - came down to the changerooms at the major break to ask if he was coming back on to play the second half!
In fact, reliable sources have told portadelaidefc.com.au she even offered to go out and finish the game for him...
I guess when you’re a thoroughbread footballer you’re expected to dust yourself off and get back out there.
…even with a bruised lung.
Uncle Russell Ebert and granddad Trevor would expect nothing less.
We mere mortals forgive Brad for sitting the rest of the game out!
