TICKETING UPDATE – PORT ADELAIDE v GOLD COAST, JIANGWAN STADIUM, SHANGHAI, Sunday 14 May 1:20pm (local time)

TICKETS for the historic first AFL game in China are only a few weeks from being released, with the club also finalising a number of events to cater for travelling fans.

The stadium layout and seating configuration have now been finalised for the May 14 clash, and the sales platform is in the final stage of development and should be live by late February.

“Jiangwan Stadium will have a unique boutique feel to it,” Port Adelaide’s marketing GM Matthew Richardson said.

“It has an amazing sense of history and Chinese cultural significance given it was built in 1934, and adding in the temporary seating and hospitality marquees will create an amazing carnival atmosphere for this historic game in one of the world’s most exciting cities.”

Supporters who have registered their interest in tickets will be the first to receive notification that tickets are available to purchase.

Anyone planning on traveling to the game is encouraged to register HERE to ensure they have the best possible chance of securing their choice of ticketing options.

Capacity at the stadium will be just over 11,000 with a mix of general admission and reserved seating available.

Tickets will be available to purchase through a dedicated website which will provide English and Mandarin options, using local credit card facilities.

With more than 3,500 ticket registrations so far, Richardson said he is confident of a strong crowd for the Round 8 clash.

“Given this is the first official game of AFL in China, we want to ensure it is an amazing experience for the thousands of our fans who are making the incredible effort to be there as well as the local Chinese audience.

“We’ve developed a unique variety of hospitality options and in order to get this right it has taken a little longer than we would have liked, but we are almost there and ready to release the various ticket and hospitality options for sale.”

The club is also in the process of developing events in China outside of the game, to cater for the thousands of travelling supporters.

These include: - Talking Footy at a hotel in Shanghai on the Friday night - A ‘Taste of Australia’ festival with wonderful food and wine leading into the stadium - A version of Game Day Village

“With such a large number of our members and supporters making the trip to Shanghai, we want to make them feel at home, while still being able to enjoy the wonders of Shanghai,” Richardson said.

“And for the local Chinese audience, we want to provide a uniquely Port Adelaide experience.”

The Club is also planning number of information evenings in partnership with the official travel partner for the game (Tee Lee Travel) to provide members with some tips on travelling to China for this game. The dates of these sessions in March will be confirmed in the coming weeks.
