ANGUS MONFRIES will push for selection in Port Adelaide’s Round 3 game against North Adelaide as he enters the final stages of recovery from a hamstring injury.
A two-week proposition at present, if selected to face the Roosters in the Magpies’ first home game for the year, it would mark the forward’s first game since 2015.
Jack Hombsch is at least another two weeks away from returning from the knee injury that sidelined him from Saturday’s loss to the Crows.
Port Adelaide head of high performance Darren Burgess says the duo are a chance to return around the same time.
“The nature of Hombschy’s injury makes it a little more difficult to say when we’re looking at getting him back, but certainly we’re hopeful of him being available in the next two-to-three weeks,” Burgess said.
“He should begin running this week.
“Gussy is looking like a chance for assessment next week, so if his rehab continues on track he could play North.”
On Friday Jasper Pittard and Dougal Howard made successful returns from injury.
Port Adelaide injury list as of Monday 10 April
Angus Monfries – hamstring (2 weeks)
Jack Hombsch – knee (2-3 weeks)
