PORT ADELAIDE has surged back into the upper echelons of the top eight by devastating Hawthorn in Round 11.

At no point did the Power trail, at no point did they look like losing, and the 51-point victory would warm the heart of the brave crowd that attended the icy Oval on Thursday night.

But despite the impressive win, some of the Power's demons were not extinguished by the big performance - efficiency in front of goal again deserted the Power with more behinds than goals by game's end.

It would be the only disappointment for Port coach Ken Hinkley after half time.

For 16 entries inside 50 during the third quarter, the Power managed just 1.8.

It took until the 25-minute mark for Dixon to convert Port’s first for the quarter.

Still, they kept Hawthorn without score in the first half – the first time the Power had achieved the feat against an AFL opponent – and kept the Hawks to their lowest score in a half.

That 0.3 scoreline was the lowest score conceded by the Power in a half of football.

It was a remarkable effort, built upon stoppage dominance from Paddy Ryder giving premium delivery to the Power’s midfielders.

They were led by 200-gamer Brad Ebert, who produced a vintage performance in the middle, finishing with 33 disposals and 12 tackles.

Charlie Dixon was his damaging best in attack - finishing with four goals and leading the Power's contested marks and possessions.

The Power next travel to Etihad Stadium to play Essedon on Saturday 10 June at 7.25pm AEST.
