PORT ADELAIDE have proven victorious in a thrilling win in the west against the Eagles in Perth.

A second-half turnaround saw the visitors come away 32-points in the lead, moving up to fourth place in the ladder.

QUARTER 1

Port Adelaide came out firing in the opening term, seeking redemption for their last meeting; a 10-point loss in Round 6.

The visitors drew first blood within minutes of the first bounce through vice-captain Ollie Wines and continued to dominate the play, scoring the next three goals through Charlie Dixon, Robbie Gray and Chad Wingard.

Despite a slow start, the Eagles quickly stole the momentum, easily overtaking a shocked Power outfit.

Port gave up a four-goal lead, thanks to poor ball use and inaccurate disposal, and the Eagles led by three points at the first change.

QUARTER 2

Port’s woes continued through the second term and struggled to get the ball forward of centre as the home side gained momentum.

Within 10 minutes of the second quarter, Jack Darling and Mark LeCras had three each and the Eagles had claimed 10 of the last 11 scoring shots including seven unanswered goals – while Port simply couldn’t compete.

Big bodied midfielder Sam Powell-Pepper took a huge hit to the right shoulder in a contest with Elliot Yeo and didn’t return for the rest of the term.

It wasn’t until the 20th minute that Port was able to break the drought.

Speedy 150-gamer Matt White broke the lines, firing the ball into a waiting Charlie Dixon who selflessly dished to Paddy Ryder, who capitalised.

Captain Travis Boak booted a major on the half time siren to put Port within 11 points leading into the second half.

QUARTER 3

Port were able to slowly claw their way back into the game by producing a more competitive third term with added defensive pressure and cleaner ball movement, despite quick hands and piercing accuracy from the home side.

Dixon got the Power going with a goal in the first three minutes, followed by a huge, thumping boot from Hamish Hartlett on the 50m line to put the visitors within 10 points.

Wingard sent a bullet into Dixon, who snagged his third for the day, turning it into a one kick game.

Westhoff was able to convert another, but the Eagles responded quickly through Jetta, leaving it 68 apiece entering the final term.

QUARTER 4

Back and forth goals opened the fourth quarter from Dixon, to LeCras and Trengove, leaving the 36,756-strong Subiaco crowd in a frenzy.

Justin Westhoff was able to break the cycle snapping a crucial set shot, followed by a sailing major from Robbie Gray, giving the visitors a solid three-goal lead.

Dan Houston gave away a downfield free inside 50 for a hit off the ball, which was then advanced 50m for stepping off the mark – gifting Vardy a certain goal.

West Coast got one back but Port was to prevail, with Paddy Ryder sealing the deal with 40 seconds to go.
