A BOMBSHELL dropped on Monday with Fremantle young gun Lachie Weller seeking a move to Gold Coast.

The Suns have set their sights on coming to an agreement with the classy ball-user, who is contracted at Freo until the end of 2018.

AFL.com.au's Trade Winds will provide a round-up of the latest action each morning until the end of the NAB AFL Trade Period on Thursday, October 19.

Weller trade to impact Ablett

Gold Coast's ability to land Weller could affect negotiations with Geelong and its pursuit of Gary Ablett, according to The Courier Mail.

Bringing in Weller, a midfielder ready to contribute immediately, might mean the Suns would accept a draft pick for Ablett, instead of demanding a player.

Geelong's compensation for Steven Motlop, pick No.19, could be traded to Gold Coast, then on to Fremantle, as part of a Weller deal.

Brandon Matera could also be involved in a trade to bring Weller to the Suns.

Carlton considering Schache

The Blues are looking at how an incoming Josh Schache would impact the development of their own young key forward Harry McKay, the Herald Sun says.

AFL.com.au reported on Monday the Western Bulldogs were pursuing Schache.

Interest in the No.2 draft pick from 2015 comes with his value at the lowest it has been in Schache's short career - with Essendon, St Kilda and North Melbourne among the clubs to have ruled themselves out of the race for the Victorian.

However, his manager David Trotter confirmed Schache would fulfil his contract with the Lions, which has another two years remaining, if an agreement with another club was not reached.

"All parties are working hard on getting a deal done and certainly Josh is very hopeful of playing in Melbourne next year," Trotter told the Herald Sun.

"If that doesn't happen he will be happy to see out his contract in Brisbane next year."

Saints' pitch for Tomlinson

Despite GWS declaring Adam Tomlinson would not be traded with two seasons to run on his contract, St Kilda has tabled a four-year deal for the defender but will not offer picks No.7 or 8 in this year's NAB AFL Draft in a trade, The Age reports.

The Saints have instead proposed trading a future second-round selection and possibly a third-round pick this year.

Jong interest grows

Multiple clubs have asked whether Western Bulldogs Lin Jong could be obtained, according to The Age.

Jong is contracted until the end of 2018 and is recovering from a right knee reconstruction after being injured in June.

Lobbe set for Lions

The Brisbane Lions are poised to land Port Adelaide ruckman Matthew Lobbe, The Australian reports.

Lobbe has fallen down the pecking order at Port with Paddy Ryder having established himself as the premier big man at the Power and Lobbe was allowed to explore his options, despite being contracted until the end of 2019.

Pies make a move

After a quiet Trade Period, Collingwood is set to make an addition with little-known Sydney backman Sam Murray to join the club, the Herald Sun says.

A deal involving late picks is expected to secure the move.

Sydney would want to keep Murray as a rookie if an agreement could not be reached.

Murray has not played a game since being taken in 2015 at No.66 in the rookie draft.
