Port Adelaide is delighted to announce its partnership with property business Greaton has been extended for a further two years.
The partnership commenced in 2016 when Greaton became a member of the China Power Club, Port Adelaide’s premier networking and business engagement platform.
In 2017, Greaton’s investment in Port Adelaide grew which has now expanded on a number of Shanghai 2018 assets as part of the two-year extension.
Port Adelaide chief executive Keith Thomas was thrilled with Greaton’s recommitment and says it is a great example of what the club wants to achieve through its China Engagement Strategy.
“We first met Greaton’s managing director Mr Nicho Teng in 2015 at a networking event that was co-hosted with the South Australian Government. He took a punt on us to become a founding member of the China Power Club in 2016, and the relationship has blossomed over the last couple of years.
“Greaton, through the vision of Mr Teng, has a clear understanding that sport can be a great vehicle for Chinese and Australian companies to do business together,” said Mr Thomas.
“It is a form of cultural exchange that removes barriers and helps create trust and understanding for the benefit of all.
“We are very excited that Greaton has continued their support of Port Adelaide and we see their decision as being an outstanding vote of confidence in what we are trying to achieve through our China Engagement Strategy.
“Equally, we see Greaton and their investment in the local economy as being very important to South Australia’s future.”
Mr Teng said, “Sport is a universal language and an ideal way to showcase the spirit of Australia as both a lifestyle and business destination. The Port Adelaide partnership is a great platform to reach the Chinese market in a dynamic and fun way.
“Adelaide has been my second home for over a decade and allowed me to develop strong relations with businesses in both countries. Port Adelaide is one of Australia’s most successful and visionary sports organisations. It is a privilege to again support this high achieving team.
“Initially established in Adelaide, Greaton entered the Australian market in 2011 and has rapidly evolved to become a leading diversified property business across Sydney and Adelaide. Chinese investment in Australia is rapidly expanding. We will continue to promote the ‘lucky country’ to the world,” Mr Teng concluded.
Greaton is currently building the $300 million West Franklin development. It is one of the largest urban regeneration projects ever undertaken in the Adelaide CBD and occupies a 5000 sqm site that was previously the home of Balfours, an iconic South Australian bakery.
Mr Teng is also the Managing Director of Haneco Lighting, a premier partner of Port Adelaide from 2018.
Port Adelaide recently confirmed the club will play a second premiership season game in Shanghai in 2018 following the success of this year’s inaugural game played at Jiangwan Stadium in May.
Port Adelaide will play the Gold Coast Suns in Shanghai on Saturday 19 May.
In a further boost to this game, the South Australia State Government has taken the naming rights for the fixture at Jiangwan Stadium. The ground will officially be called Adelaide Arena.
