THE PORT ADELAIDE FOOTBALL CLUB congratulates SANFL Captain Steven Summerton and former champions Greg Anderson and Scott Hodges, who have been granted Life Membership by the South Australian National Football League (SANFL).

Summerton, Anderson and Hodges were among seven players presented with SANFL Player Life Membership at the SANFL’s AGM on Tuesday night.

While neither Anderson nor Hodges reached 200 SANFL games, in 2017, SANFL Player Life Member rules were amended to include Adelaide Football Club and Port Adelaide Football Club AFL games in a player’s total as long as 150 SANFL games were part of the minimum total of 200 matches.The qualification for life membership of the SANFL is 200 games over at least ten years.

Anderson won the 1986 Magarey Medal and managed 150 games and 87 goals for Port Adelaide in the SANFL, winning the 1995 and 1996 Premierships.

He also played 12 state games, as well as 162 AFL games for Essendon and Adelaide

Hodges is an eight-time Premiership player who featured in 183 games for Port Adelaide along with two state games.

Twice a best and fairest with the club, he booted a total of 700 goals and won the 1990 Magarey Medal along with three Ken Farmer medals as the SANFL’s highest goal scorer.

Hodges also played 38 games for the Crows in the AFL, booting 100 goals.

Summerton has played 210 SANFL games and three state matches since 2006, and has so far kicked 147 goals.

The other players to receive life membership were Rodney Maynard, Stephen Rowe, Darren Jarman and Sean Tasker.
