THERE is a surprise new leader in the AFL Fantasy standings with Western Bulldog Jack Macrae now top of the leaderboard.

The 23-year-old scored a massive 151 fantasy points after racking up 40 possessions, five marks, eight tackles and a goal in the Bulldogs’ narrow win over the Gold Coast.

Hawthorn’s Tom Mitchell remains in second position after a relatively quiet (by his standards) 29 disposals and one goal against Essendon.

Brisbane’s Dayne Zorko polled the highest score for the round with 176, after almost willing his side to its first victory of the season against Collingwood on Sunday.

He had 34 touches, seven marks, 10 tackles and four goals in a best on ground performance.

At Port Adelaide, defender Dan Houston was the only player to pass the ton with his 101, in the disappointing loss to West Coast, but Jared Polec is still the Power’s best overall scorer.

Jared Polec (mid - $692,000)

Polec, like most of his team, was down on form, managing just 21 touches, five tackles and a goal for a total of 74 AFL Fantasy points.

That total is well below his average in 2018 of 103.4 points so it is fair to mark it down as a bad day for the busy 25-year-old.

His career-best season so far has seen him selected in just 1809 teams, but that is a jump of more than 600 in just one week.

Expect him to respond, with the rest of his Power teammates in Saturday’s Showdown against Adelaide.

Travis Boak (mid/fwd - $602,000)

The Port Adelaide captain was one who could probably hold his head up high after the Eagles game.

He polled 98 fantasy points, above his average of 88 points for 2018 so far.

The skipper had 28 disposals – equal with Robbie Gray as the team’s highest – to go with seven marks and three tackles.

Boak seems to be hitting a patch of form at the moment, yet is only owned by 2545 AFL Fantasy coaches, meaning he is in just 1.9% of all teams.

Darcy Byrne-Jones (def - $490,000)

We say it all the time, but defenders don’t always poll highly so when a guy who averages 74 points scores 89 in a poor team performance it stands out.

Byrne-Jones was playing his 50th game – a remarkable effort considering he hasn’t missed one since making his debut.

The 22-year-old had 26 disposals and seven marks, taking him to his second-highest Fantasy score for the season.

His overall value has risen $29,000 since the start of the season and it has been steadily rising since a poor performance in round four, with his average in the last three rounds 90.7 points.

He might make a nice rough selection given he’s only in 983 teams and will cost you less than $500,000.

Robbie Gray (fwd - $693,000)

Gray’s score of 91 against West Coast was respectable given the overall performance of the team.

He had 28 touches - equal with Travis Boak as Port’s best – as well as three marks and six tackles.

His value has gone up $121,000 since the start of the season, second only to Dom Barry at Port Adelaide.

Gray is averaging 107 Fantasy points, seeing him recognised as one of the league’s most popular players.

In the space of three games, Gray has gone from being in 14600 Fantasy teams to 39272 – that’s nearly 30% of the competition.

The 30-year-old has played one game less than most of his teammates but is ranked as Port Adelaide’s fourth highest scorer overall.

Brad Ebert (mid - $683,000)

Ebert had a below average performance, like his team, but still saw his overall value increase by $13,000.

Against his old side, Ebert had 20 disposals, six marks and eight tackles for a score of 92 points.

While that is below his season average of 97.9, the 28-year-old has averaged 118.3 points in his last three games, with a season-high of 137 against North Melbourne last week.

Ebert is now in 547 AFL Fantasy teams, a small increase on last week, but still just 0.41% of the competition.

  1. Dan Houston - 101
  2. Travis Boak - 98
  3. Brad Ebert - 92
  4. Robbie Gray - 91
  5. Darcy Byrne-Jones - 89

Port Adelaide top 5 for 2018

  1. Jared Polec - 724
  2. Justin Westhoff - 71
  3. Brad Ebert - 685
  4. Robbie Gray - 643
  5. Travis Boak - 616
