PORT ADELAIDE speedster Steven Motlop might be playing in his first Showdown, but the 27 year-old is well aware of the bitter rivalry between the two Adelaide sides.

Motlop grew up supporting the Power and watched his brother Daniel Motlop suit up in the black, white and teal on six occasions against Adelaide for three wins and three losses.

The Crows currently lead the overall count 22 wins to 21 but Motlop said he was eager to add another win for the club to square the ledger.

“It’s my first Showdown on Saturday afternoon,” he said.

“I used to barrack for Port Adelaide when I was younger so obviously it’s a huge occasion.

“I used to watch my brother play in them as well.

“Daniel played in a few of them probably nearly five or ten years ago, so he just said it’s really loud and a really good experience.”

Motlop said Adelaide was a strong team at the contest – an area his side had identified for improvement in recent weeks.

He said playing in front of a big Adelaide Oval crowd would hopefully help propel the Power to victory to break a run of five straight Crows wins.

“It’s a big challenge for us and one we’re looking forward to,” Motlop said.

“We’ve trained really well and implemented what we needed to on the training track so we’re really confident we’ve put in the work and all we have to do is go and put it out there in the game.

“Obviously it’s an exciting time for Adelaide and for all of South Australia.

“It’s a twilight game on Saturday afternoon so it’s perfect timing for the fans and I think it’s going to be great weather too so I’m looking forward to it.”
