THE PORT ADELAIDE Football Club is mourning the loss of dual premiership player Allan Robert “Blossom” Blagrove.
The 85-year-old played 63 games and kicked one goal in his five seasons at the club.
He was an important member of the Australian record-holding side which won six consecutive premierships in the 1950s, and he played in two himself.
Blagrove was a defender who made his senior debut in 1955.
He booted his only career goal in the 1956 grand final win over West Adelaide.
He was also a member of the team that beat West again in the 1958 decider by just two points.
Allan Blagrove died peacefully at home surrounded by family on Friday.
The Port Adelaide Football Club sends its condolences to Allan’s wife of 64 years Therese, his daughters Michelle, Lynette, Kathryn and Angela and their families, and to Allan’s friends and former club mates.
His loss will be felt by the entire Port Adelaide community.
