PORT ADELAIDE has farewelled Jared Polec and Jasper Pittard after completing a trade with North Melbourne that sees them both head to Arden Street in return for pick 11 at the 2018 AFL National Draft and a future fourth round selection.

The Kangaroos will also receive the Power’s third round selection, which is currently pick 48.

Polec arrived at Alberton from Brisbane during the 2013 trade period and he has since played 90 of his 106 AFL games.

The 25-year-old was originally drafted by the Lions from Woodville-West Torrens with pick 5 in the 2010 AFL National Draft.

Pittard has played 126 AFL games since his debut in 2011, after being selected by Port Adelaide with pick 16 at the 2009 draft.

Jasper Pittard has also been traded to North Melbourne.

A rising star nominee in 2011, the former Geelong Falcons defender won the 2016 Fos Williams Medal as the best team man, as voted by his teammates.

Power General Manager – Football, Chris Davies farewelled both Polec and Pittard and thanked them for their time at Alberton.

“Jared has been a strong contributor to the team and played some brilliant football since coming across from Brisbane,” he said.

“Although it’s disappointing to see him go we understand the reasoning behind his decision and wish him all the best for the future.

“Jasper likewise has made a significant contribution to the club, culminating in his selection in the All-Australian squad in 2016.

“Allowing him to depart with two years remaining on his contract is a decision not taken lightly but we believe it is in the best interests of both Jasper and Port Adelaide moving forward.

“We wish him well and thank him for his service.”

Port Adelaide currently holds picks 10, 11, 23, 30, 49 and 84 in the 2018 National Draft.
