Having broken through for his AFL debut against the Gold Coast in 2019, Garner went on to play four games that season and would have been hoping for more in 2020.
The victim of Port Adelaide’s backline depth, the composed left footer failed to register another game and struggled for opportunity to impress due to the club’s non-participation in the SANFL because of the AFL’s COVID-19 restrictions.
A leader despite his tender years, Garner is renowned for his poise, decision making and precise left foot, often seen setting up as a quarter-back of sorts. He can play on both small and tall forwards and will be pushing for a return to the AFL side in 2021.
