Having arrived at Alberton as a skinny small defender, Byrne-Jones has developed into a versatile player whose running capacity is an asset. Known as 'Hank' for his aggressive mindset on the field - a reference to Jim Carrey's split personality in Me, Myself and Irene - he is never one to shirk a contest. He is fast across the field and has the discipline to shut down an opponent.
Byrne-Jones was selected in the 2020 All-Australian team as a half back but has played as a crafty small forward in recent years. The 29-year-old was awarded Port Adelaide Life Membership at the club’s 2023 Best & Fairest, and continues to be an important presence on field.

The Port Adelaide Football Club acknowledges the land on which we train and play, are based on the traditional lands of the Kaurna people. We respect their spiritual relationship with their country. We also acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the traditional custodians of Australia and that their cultural and heritage beliefs are still as important to the living people today.
