PAST junior players for Port Adelaide are being invited to reminisce and remember their playing days in the famous black-and-white knit and guernsey at the club’s junior football reunion.
Former senior Port Adelaide captain (and a junior himself) Tim Ginever has organised the event as an opportunity to bring old junior players back into the fold of the club.
Reliving past victories will be high on the agenda, but Ginever says it’s also a chance to update past players on the club’s Academy structure, following the decommissioning of its traditional junior zone and program in 2015.
“It’s all about getting these blokes who played underage footy for the club back for a catchup with old mates and teammates, not to mention a few beers,” Ginever says.
“We’ll have and update for our old juniors about the future Academy structures and programs we’re running to keep our foothold in our traditional heartland strong, as many of these guys are born-and-bred Port Adelaide.
“It’ll be a great, casual day to get these guys back to Alberton and enjoy reliving some great times.”
The junior football reunion will be held at Alberton Oval on Sunday 21 June.
