EXPERIENCED forward Orazio Fantasia headlines a lit of players in the mix for selection for Port Adelaide’s blockbuster AFL Qualifying Final against Geelong at Adelaide Oval on Friday night.
Fantasia missed the Round 23 win over the Western Bulldogs with hamstring tightness but just needs to complete the main training session on Wednesday to prove he is fit to return.
A spot in Port Adelaide's forward line could open up as the Power sweat on the fitness of high-flyer Mitch Georgiades, but Fantasia will have competition for a spot by a number of players who impressed at SANFL level at the weekend.
Among them is Boyd Woodcock who was an absolute standout in the win over South Adelaide, picking up 43 disposals and seven clearances in a best afield showing.
Woodcock also led the game with 13 marks and added a goal in a industrious performance that was key to the win.
Defender Tom Clurey was also among Port’s best, as an assured presence across the backline.
His 23 disposals and four rebound 50s were remarkably efficient. In fact, he has been averaging 92 per-cent disposal efficiency in his four SANFL games this season.
Midfielder/forward Sam Powell-Pepper was again strong in his second consecutive game with the Magpies.
The 23-year-old really got the side going in the early stages with his hunt and strength. He finished the game with 21 disposals, four tackles, five clearances and a goal.
Jed McEntee continued his good form with 2.1 from 16 disposals. He also racked up five tackles and three clearances in another dynamic performance.
Defender Jarrod Lienert was the travelling emergency and went without a game after being forced into isolation upon his return to Adelaide. His name would be firmly in the selection frame after his consistently good form across the season.
Port Adelaide will name its side to face the Cats on Thursday evening.
Friday night’s sell-out game will get underway at Adelaide Oval at 7:20pm ACST / 7:50pm AEST.
