THEY are the men who helped establish the foundation for Port Adelaide’s half-century of supremacy in the SANFL – a time which made the club the AFL’s logical choice to admit as South Australia’s second national team in 1997.
From 1951 to 1999, Port Adelaide won 22 premierships.
That’s one premiership every 2-3 years.
To celebrate this time, a group of 45 players who played between 1950-1970 – Port Adelaide’s ‘Golden Era’ gathered to reminisce about the 15-year span that reaped an unbeaten national record of six consecutive premierships (1954-1959) and 10 flags.
