IT has become one of the most recognisable mullet and mo combinations in the AFL but it will soon be no more when Scott Lycett goes under the razor for a good cause.
Lycett’s glorious moustache began as a Movember fundraiser back in 2019 and stuck around as his way of continuing to raise awareness for men’s health.
His mullet followed soon after and two years on both will come off as part of a fundraiser for a cause close to his heart.
Lycett’s friend Michael (aka Mishy/Mish) Nyskohus has recently been diagnosed with Metastatic Stomach Cancer and is undergoing treatment that is causing him to require around the clock care.
Mish’s son Jason Nyskohus played football for Port Adelaide alongside Lycett and the pair became good friends.
“I played junior footy with him with the Port Magpies and a few reserves games with the Maggies. His dad was always there supporting us,”
“I’ve spent plenty of time at their house having barbecues and relaxing by their pool.
“For me it’s about doing something for someone who needs it. He’s got some treatment to go through and can’t work at the moment.
“It’s very sad that it’s all happening to them. They’re a great family.”
Lycett is hoping to raise $20,000 to assist with medical bills and finishing off some work, including landscaping, at Mish’s newly built home.
The mullet and mo will come off at an event at the Port District Football Club on Sunday 5 December.
“It’s been a couple of years,” Lycett explained of his mullet and mo.
“I’m looking forward to going back to normal. It’s been a good two years but I’m keen to see what’s underneath again.”
Lycett is grateful for the more than 140 donations his fundraiser has received so far.
Anyone who wants to contribute can do so through Lycett’s gofundme page.
“Plenty of people have contributed so far and I really want to thank those people,” he said.
“Anything you can donate or even if you can spread the word will help.”
