The AFL today confirmed Port Adelaide’s opening nine home-and-away games by venue and timeslot with the club’s opponents for its remaining 13 games locked in but the timeslot to remain as a floating fixture as was the case in 2021.
Port Adelaide will open its 2022 campaign at the Gabba away to Brisbane Lions on Saturday 19 March and will host its first home game in Round 2 against Hawthorn on Saturday night, 26 March. Significantly, the club’s opening two matches will be broadcast nationally on free-to-air television.
The highlights of the Power’s blockbuster opening nine Rounds include a Round 4 Thursday night clash against reigning premiers Melbourne at Adelaide Oval on April 7, an Anzac Round game against West Coast on Saturday April 23 and a Round 8 Friday night battle against the Western Bulldogs on May 6.
The AFL also confirmed that Port Adelaide would host Victorian clubs Essendon, Geelong and Richmond later in the season and a Round 23 Showdown against the Adelaide Crows to close out the home-and-away season.
In summary, Port Adelaide will travel to Perth once, twice to Queensland, once to Hobart and six times to Victoria, including three games at the MCG.
The Power will play Melbourne, Geelong, Essendon, Richmond and Adelaide twice.

Port Adelaide chief executive Matthew Richardson says that Port Adelaide’s Members, supporters and commercial partners should be excited by what the 2022 fixture offers.
“If you look at our first nine Rounds as a starting point, it’s very easy to be excited about our 2022 campaign,” Mr Richardson said.
“Five of our first nine games will be broadcast nationally on free-to-air television providing valuable exposure for our commercial partners.
“From a home game perspective there are many standouts for our Members and supporters in 2022, including hosting big Victorian clubs in Hawthorn, Melbourne, Western Bulldogs, Essendon, Geelong and Richmond.
“We will honour club legend Russell Ebert at our first home game in Round 2 which will be a very special occasion for the entire Port Adelaide family.
“We then have the honour and privilege of hosting an Anzac Round home game at Adelaide Oval this year against West Coast Eagles.
“This is the 19th consecutive time Port Adelaide has hosted an Anzac Round game in Adelaide and we continue to enjoy a great partnership with the RSL and defence community.
“We are grateful to the AFL for our club to again be granted hosting rights of this game in Adelaide. It’s an enormous honour and one that we will never take for granted.
“We also look forward to hosting Essendon in Round 11 for Sir Doug Nicholls Round at Adelaide Oval. Both clubs share a rich history of nurturing and promoting Indigenous talent and we look forward to celebrating the incredible legacy Indigenous players have contributed to our club and Australian football.
“From an on-field perspective, we welcome the opportunity to play three games at the MCG. COVID aside, the MCG remains the home of the big finals so exposing our players to the MCG is of great benefit.”
