IN October this year Port Adelaide made a historic first AFLW appointment, announcing highly accomplished professional sportswoman and businesswoman Juliet Haslam as its head of AFLW.
Haslam’s remit will include AFLW football operations, culture, coaching appointments, list management and high performance.
As Juliet officially commences her role at the club this week, portadelaidefc.com.au takes a look at her career journey that led her to our AFLW program.
Juliet holds a wide array of sports accomplishments. A Hockeyroo for over 12 years, Juliet is a two-time Olympic Gold Medal winner and a Commonwealth Games Gold Medal winner, as well as holding two World Cup Gold Medals and five Champions Gold Medals.
Building on her impressive sportsmanship, Juliet was also named in the Australian Women’s ‘Team of the Century’.
Since retiring, Juliet has built a corporate, marketing and consultancy career, working for organisations such as Coca-Cola and Sarah Homes.
Juliet additionally serves on the boards of Hockey SA, Hockey Australia, the SA Sports Institute and the Board of Governors for the SA Hall of Fame.
Most recently, Juliet worked on the Australia Institute of Sport’s Gold Medal Ready program, which helped prepare Olympic athletes for the Tokyo games.
Juliet herself has a strong personal history with the club: a lifelong devoted fan, member of the club, and in a once-off, played in a women’s showdown in 2004.
Bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role, Juliet will be an invaluable addition to building the club’s AFLW program from the ground up.
