PORT ADELAIDE’s new social club facility will be known as “The Precinct at Alberton” and includes an upstairs bar and kitchen featuring gourmet pizzas and an on-site Yoder meat smoker.
Work on The Precinct at Alberton commenced early this year and is expected to be completed in time for the venue to open early April.
As part of the redevelopment, a new interactive museum and retail experience is being created downstairs with the bar and kitchen relocated upstairs.
The new industry-leading Port Store retail space is already open through a temporary entrance offering a range of supporter wear, collectables, and casual wear.
The bar and kitchen design will be a nod to the industrial vibe of the Port Adelaide district and includes an open viewing keg room and large deck area extending out into the grandstand space to capitalise on the iconic views out over Alberton Oval and the vista of the Adelaide Hills in the background.
The Precinct at Alberton will offer patrons everything from a quick coffee stop to a delicious sit-down meal.
The Precinct at Alberton’s premium bar will feature a huge screen television and multiple screens where patrons can catch all the biggest sports events live, and it will stock a large selection of South Australian wines and beers including Sidewood and Pirate Life.
Upstairs also includes a function room available for both corporate and private events with bookings already being taken from April onwards.
Work is also well underway on the new Port Adelaide Museum – a key part of The Precinct at Alberton – and a way to showcase a unique display of the club’s rich 151-year history.
The interactive museum will transport visitors through various eras using technology, imagery and storytelling.
Port Adelaide Chief Executive Officer Matthew Richardson said it was exciting to unveil the venue’s new name and see it taking shape.
“When we re-imagined the Port Club and how we would transform it, there were several themes that were important,” Mr Richardson explained.
“First and most importantly, it is our people’s home. It is the place where our members and supporters come, connect and immerse themselves in their football club. It isn’t just another hotel or licenced venue, it is the home of the Port Adelaide Football Club, one of the oldest and most successful sports clubs in the world.
“When you arrive here, it has to represent that and it has to be a place where as soon as you walk into the new facility, it makes a bold statement and says this place is special. The trophy cabinet alone with 37 Premiership Cups and shields makes it very clear from the moment you enter the Club what this place stands for.
“Along with our upgrades to the Fos Williams Stand changerooms and the redevelopment of our high-performance training centre, we are transforming the entire Alberton Oval precinct into a place the community will be proud of.
“But it is important that we complete this part of our total re-development at Alberton Oval first, because it is for our members and supporters to enjoy and connect with their club. I can’t wait to welcome our people back to the Club, and to the new “Precinct at Alberton.”
The Precinct at Alberton will be a key part of the club’s AFLW game day experience upon its entry into the competition next year.
