PORT ADELAIDE will open and close its SANFL premiership season with Showdowns for the first time.
The 2022 Hostplus SANFL League fixture released on Thursday has Port tackling the Crows to bookend its season – each played as SANFL/AFL double headers at Adelaide Oval.
It will be a tricky start to the season for Matthew Lokan’s side with games against four of the five 2021 finalists in the opening six rounds.
On Tuesday the SANFL also announced Port Adelaide would face West Adelaide at Loxton in Round 7 in a match in honour of the late Russell Ebert.
Much of the rest of the season has been left as a floating fixture with Port Adelaide’s opponents and the game venues known but the time and date of each fixture to be confirmed.
Among the other highlights of the club’s fixture, Port will travel to the Parade for a Friday night encounter with traditional rival Norwood as one of five games on Good Friday, and it will have back-to-back games at Alberton in June against the Redlegs and Glenelg as well as against the Bloods and Central District in July.
Port Adelaide will travel to Prospect to face North Adelaide in the SANFL Indigenous Round in Round 13.
