PORT ADELAIDE defender Tom Clurey will miss the start of the AFL season after having arthroscopic surgery on his right knee.
Clurey had a clean-up of the lateral meniscus after reporting swelling following Saturday’s AAMI Community Series win over the Crows.
Head of Medical Services Tim O’Leary says all went well with the procedure.
“Despite having no incident, and completing the game without restriction, Tom reported some swelling on the knee during recovery on Sunday morning,” O’Leary said.
“An MRI scan of the knee revealed a meniscal injury, which we felt best to tidy up now to ensure Tom will be available for the majority of the season.
“Assuming everything goes as planned, we would expect Tom to be training again within a month.”
