PORT ADELAIDE defender Trent McKenzie has been cleared of serious injury to his ankle after being hurt in the club’s loss to Hawthorn on Saturday night.
McKenzie was subbed out and missed the final quarter of the match after landing awkwardly and spraining his ankle in a marking contest.
The 29-year-old will be assessed later in the week in an effort to be cleared to face Adelaide on Friday night.
Forwards Robbie Gray and Charlie Dixon will also need to prove their fitness to be considered for selection.
Gray missed the game against the Hawks after injuring his knee against Brisbane a week earlier while Dixon has yet to feature this season following pre-season ankle surgery.
Midfielder Taj Schofield did not feature at AFL or SANFL level at the weekend after experiencing hamstring tightness but has been cleared of injury and is expected to be available this week.
Port Adelaide will on Thursday evening name its side for Friday night’s Variety Showdown LI at Adelaide Oval.
The game gets underway at 7:50pm local time.
