A FOUR-goal-to-none second term helped Adelaide's SANFL team defeat Port Adelaide at Alberton Oval by 30 points on Saturday morning.

The Magpies laced their side with 10 youngsters from last year's Academy team, and were unable to break away from the Crows' relentless pressure and experience early.

The Magpies failed to boot a goal in either the second term after both teams went goal-for-goal in the first quarter.

Keanu Miller, Sam Gordon and Jarred Redden were firing up forward and helped the Magpies to a narrow lead at the first break.

But despite both sides struggling to hold possession in the second term, the first goal, which came at the 17-minute mark, went to the Crows.

Adelaide heaped on three more quick goals and, the experienced Crows, who had Matt Jaensch, James Podsiadly and Brodie Martin drop back into their SANFL side, gave the Magpies little room to move the outside ball.

The Magpies regained some consistency and attacking pressure late in the third term and goals to Ah Chee and youngster Jack Cooper on the siren boosted the morale heading into the final term, despite trailling by 47 points.

Despite the score line, the match was another opportunity for the new recruits and Academy-listed youngsters to show their potential.

AFL-listed Darcy Byrne-Jones showed some promise as an emerging defender, taking a few marks and making some strong spoils on the football.

Keanu Miller also showed some class with his speed and swift ball movement through the middle and up forward.

The Magpies will play the third and final SANFL trial match against the SAAFL's Goodwood Saints at Thebarton Oval, on Thursday 2 April at 7.30pm.
