PORT ADELAIDE will host Essendon in a Sunday twilight match before its mid-season bye it has been announced as part of the latest update to the AFL fixture.

The AFL today confirmed Port Adelaide would face Geelong at GMHBA Stadium at 1:45pm on Saturday 21 May in Round 10 before hosting the Bombers at Adelaide Oval in Round 11 from 4:10pm on Sunday 29 May.

The AFL had previously only released the fixtures for the opening nine rounds of the season, opting to leave the rest of the season as a floating fixture.

The trips to Bellerive Oval in Hobart in Round 9 to face North Melbourne and GHMBA Stadium in Geelong in consecutive weeks will present an opportunity for Port Adelaide to improve its record at those venues.

It is at those two venues where the club has its worst winning percentages. It has played just once for one loss at Bellerive (a 10-point loss to the Kangaroos in 2013) while it has recorded just two wins in 14 outings in Geelong – the most recent coming in Round 21, 2007.

The Round 11 game against Essendon will see Port Adelaide wear its 2022 Indigenous guernsey – to be revealed later – as part of the Sir Doug Nicholls Round, celebrating the contribution of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to the game of Australian Rules football.

Tickets for the newly announced fixtures are yet to be released for sale, but information will be communicated closer to the dates.
