Peter Jackson Player Of The Week
Andrew MooreWell, Moorey played like an AFL midfielder. He was fantastic inside stoppages, but also powered away from stoppage with real speed and intensity for all four quarters. He was able to win lots of the footy and get forward and kick three great goals. Terrific performance from him.
Player reviews
Karl AmonNot a four-quarter effort by Karl, he did start well with nine possessions in the first quarter, but then found it tough to get into the game. He did manage to have impact again after half time though, and has had really solid form for a few weeks. He's very classy when he finds the footy.
Mitch Harvey
I thought Mitch competed well again in the ruck and also as a forward. Finishing without a mark was disappointing, but he was very good at ground level in contests. He found it difficult at times getting into our offensive transition, but we are enjoying seeing him develop each week.
Steven Summerton
Had another strong performance, led the team very well and made great decisions when in possession. Pumped the ball inside-50 but also ran well to help out the defence on our rebound.
Angus Bruggemann
Got back into some form this week playing back in defence. He marked everything that came his way and generally used the ball well. Good to see him bounce back after the bye.
Tom Clurey
Like Bruggers, Tommy had a solid performance in defence again. Ran and attacked the game with real speed and used the ball fairly well, but he still needs to take a little more care with the footy. He was also very aggressive against his opponent, which was pleasing.
John Butcher
Not the best day for John. Unfortunately Rutten did have the better of him, but John’s pressure was at an AFL standard. He just needs to take his opportunities when they present in front of goal.
Anthony Biemans
A very good game with regard to running numbers for Biemer, but he was unlucky at times in that we just couldn't get the ball to him when he made good positioning behind his opponent. Attacked the ball strongly and played his role for the team.
Nathan Krakouer
Krak started really well down back and his first attack on the contest was outstanding. He read the ball well and used it very efficiently when rebounding out of defence. Was pushed forward in the third term and gave his opponent plenty to worry about after he scored two goals.
Jake Neade
A really strong performance from Jake this week, although his form has been really consistent across the year. He had five shots on goals resulting in three majors, but his ability to take the opposition on and run, carry and set up his teammates was at AFL level.
Henry Slattery
I though Henry played an important role for us up forward - he was tough in the contest but managed to get into space and use the ball really well. He was really important around stoppages where he used his footy smarts and courage to our advantage.
Darcy Byrne-Jones
A solid performance from Darcy this week - probably a game where he would have learned a lot from having the match-up on Callinan and Porplyzia at times. He did very well against two great, experienced and tricky opponents.
Brendon Ah Chee
Lots to like about Brendon’s game. He played hard and tough across four quarters and generally used the ball well around the ground. He also did a great job curbing the influence of Cameron Ellis-Yolmen around stoppages.
Lewis Stevenson
It was probably Lewis's best game or most consistent game since returning from injury. He was aggressive against his opponent, attacked the contest hard and used his big body well. His weapon (kicking) was much more powerful and efficient out of defence this week.
Mason Shaw
Not the best day from the big baby forwards, but Mason did manage to snag two goals as the result of his good work rate. He perhaps played a little too deep at times, but he did slide up to the wing where he was able to found a bit more of the footy.
Sam Russell
Just a real solid performance from Rusty this week. Like Darcy, he will take lots from the game matching up against Petrenko and Porplyzia. He defended strongly and looked to get involved more on our offence.
Daniel Flynn
Not big numbers for Flynny in this game, but he does light up the crowd when he gets the ball and attacks the game with his speed. He made some good decisions and is fitting into our structures well. Most importantly, he is understanding more about his role week-to-week.
Jake Johansen
A low-possession game for Jake this week, but he could have finished with three goals. Just needs to have a little more composure when in possession and still took the game on when he could and gave us some real outnumbering at contests in our forward 50.
Ben Haren
We brought Benny back into the side this week to give us a contest in the ruck. I thought he battled real hard and looked to get involved in our offence to test the running ability of Angus Graham. We'd love to see him step up over the next few weeks and cement his spot in our side.
Sam Gray
Came back into the side after some AFL game time and was a little slow to start. He had really got going by the end of the game, amassed a lot of the footy and was very productive around stoppages for us. He looked to have injected some real speed and energy back into his running game.
Kane Mitchell
Very similar to Sam Gray, Kane has spent some time up at the top level and came back with great attitude looking to play his role with us. He had the job on Crouch after quarter time and he was heavily involved in stopping him having an impact. Mitch found plenty of the ball himself with his ability to get up and down the ground with that amazing gut-running ability. He looked comfortable inside the contest but wore his opponent down by getting on the outside and outnumbering at many contests.
