If you haven’t heard about Port Adelaide’s Perfect Pear match-day dating service, you must be living under some of that rubble that has been taken away from Football Park.
And if that’s the case, you could be missing out on a chance at true love with another true believer.
Inspired by tv dating shows, the football club has decided to add to its match-day experience by trying to help its supporters find love.
The premise of the idea is that single Power fans will be paired at home games for a date.
They will be introduced to each other (and the crowd) on the big screen pre-match, then enjoy time alone in an open corporate box.
Finally, at three quarter time, the crowd will check in on the couple to see how things are going and whether they would like a second date.
If they elect to have a second date, they will be given a restaurant voucher and if they decide to go their separate ways, they will be invited to an event for singles at the Power’s Round 23 match against Fremantle.
Applicants have to be aged 18 or over and complete an online profile which includes questions about their interests, hobbies, best pick-up lines and preferred age range.
They can even upload a 15-20 second audition video if they choose to.
22 individuals will be selected to form 11 couples – one for each of the Power’s home games at Adelaide Oval in 2019.
Port Adelaide’s head of events and game day Helen Hobbins said more than 100 applications had been received already.
“The feedback's been phenomenal, everyone's quite excited," she said.
"We're hoping we will get a range of applicants who want to participate.
"We've had over 100 applications so far… so we're going to be in no shortage of finding people to participate and hopefully we can match up some perfect pairs."
For many people there can be no greater test of compatibility than whether their match supports the same football club.
Perfect Pear removes any doubt, and even lets people see how their match reacts when the pressure is on… when the Power is in the heat of battle.
Ms Hobbins said she hoped to see long-lasting relationships formed, and said she expected to be invited to any resulting weddings.
"We're trying to keep up our innovation around game day, so I think we are the first club running our own dating program," she said.
"Behind the scenes here, we'll make those matches for people to enjoy the date, and it is in a safe environment at the football," she said.
"This isn't behind an app or messages, they get to experience what each other is like at a football game in a social environment.
"It will be up to the choice of those two people at that game whether they want to continue with a second date, and we are backing ourselves to find couples who will work!”
