portadelaidefc.com.au takes a look at who’s in the mix to play in the Power’s Mother’s Day clash against Brisbane at Adelaide Oval.

Port Adelaide

While no injuries were reported from the Power’s clash with Richmond, a couple of potential returnees could shuffle the team to face the Lions.

Jackson Trengove will be available for selection after spending one week on the sideline thanks to a one-match ban handed down by the MRP. A Round 6 defender may be squeezed back to the SANFL if Trengove slots back into the top side.

First-choice player Chad Wingard is a chance to return if he passes concussion reviews following a knock during the Power’s clash with the Cats, which would also force a change to the Power’s forward line.

With key ruckman Matthew Lobbe out for 12 weeks after injuring his knee in the Magpies-Sturt SANFL game at the weekend, an opportunity now opens for a young ruckman to step up to the senior level on a more consistent basis.

This could come from Dougal Howard who followed up his Round 2 debut with a promising performance with the Power last week - he’s a strong chance to keep his spot.

Robbie Gray will miss another week as he recovers from a hamstring injury.

The Lions could be strengthened by the return of midfielder Dayne Beams, who will need to prove his fitness against knee tendonitis which has left him gameless so far in season 2016.

He’s training trouble free according to the Lions’ head of physiotherapy Shane Lemcke.

“It will come down to how match committee thinks he’s going, whether he’s got enough work under his belt and when they think he’s ready to play,” Lemcke said.

Midfielder Tom Bell has escaped any game sanction after being handed down a $1,000 fine by the MRP for striking Jake Lloyd in the fourth quarter of their clash with Sydney, and is set to hit the field on Sunday.

It’s a wait-and-see for small forward Josh Green who pulled up with a sore chest after Round 6– although even if cleared, he’s unlikely to dip straight back into the AFL side, given he played in the NEAFL last week.

Meanwhile defender Marco Paparone is expected to be back in for the Lions during the next week or two after coming back from a hamstring injury through the NEAFL in strong form last week.
