Talented wingman Xavier Duursma headlines a list of players in the mix for selection for Port Adelaide’s trip to Cairns to face St Kilda.
Duursma returned through the SANFL last week following a fortnight off with shoulder and neck bruising, finishing with a team-high 27 disposals to go with six tackles, five clearances and a goal to show he had overcome any injury concern.
A couple of other midfielders also impressed in the SANFL including Sam Mayes and Jackson Mead. Mayes was not afraid to get his hands dirty in the game against Sturt, racking up a game-high 11 tackles along with four clearances and 23 disposals while Mead had 22 touches, seven tackles and three clearances.
At half back Lachie Jones (14 disposals, five marks and five rebound 50s) and Martin Frederick (19 disposals and four tackles) were among the better performers – Jones after playing much of the second half in the AFL the night before as the medical sub.
Defenders Jake Pasini (14 disposals, six marks, five tackles) and Sam Skinner (11 disposals, six marks, two rebound 50s) also did enough to put themselves in the mix for selection.
Miles Bergman – who was a late omission from the side which beat West Coast last week – could also come into consideration if he is able to shake off a virus in time.
Port Adelaide will name its side for Saturday night’s game against the Saints on Thursday evening.
