SUMMARY
Back in the day, Port Adelaide used to make trips to Alice Springs to play the Central Australian Football League. That tradition resumes in 2016 - sort of - with the Central Australian Redtails coming to Alberton to play the Magpies on Sunday afternoon. Port Adelaide will field a young side of its contracted League list and Academy players, while the Redtails will bring the best of the Red Centre to town.

THE FOUR POINTS
1. This is the first time Port Adelaide and the Redtails have played against each other, but this will be more of an exhibition game than a fully-fledged trial match.
2. Port Adelaide's side will blend its SANFL contracted and Academy players in a single team, from next week the team will feature a mix of AFL and SANFL contracted players.
3. While he's coaching the Magpies in 2016, this won't be Chad Cornes's first appearance as Port Adelaide's coach in the SANFL. With so many of the club's academy players set to be filling the team, duties will instead fall to Mark Clayton, who regularly coaches the club's Academy team.
4. Steven Summerton won't play against the Redtails, having been in rehab for a back aggravation, meaning one of his deputies will fill the role of captain on Sunday.
FINAL WORD
A friendly in the truest sense of the word, but great way to see the Magpies Academy players in action.
