PORT ADELAIDE could go into Thursday night blockbuster clash with Richmond with an unchanged line-up, however if selectors opt to make any changes, there are several players who have made a case to be included.

Defender Jase Burgoyne was by far the club’s best player in the SANFL loss to North Adelaide before the bye, racking up a career-high 34 disposals to go with three clearances, three tackles and a game-high 12 rebound 50s.

He might find it hard to break into a backline which is ranked among the competition’s top four for score against and has last week’s unused medical sub Lachie Jones and the experienced Trent McKenzie also waiting in the wings.

McKenzie is in the frame to play his first game since Round 3, having recovered following knee surgery and returned to full training over the past week.

Midfielders Jackson Mead and Taj Schofield each had 23 disposals in tough conditions against the Roosters while Mead also showed a willingness to get his hands dirty, racking up a game-high nine tackles.

Martin Frederick spent time playing as a forward but still got 20 touches and Mitch Georgiades also had 20 to go with five marks, four inside 50s and two goals on a day where the ball did not spend a lot of time in the Magpies’ forward half.

Xavier Duursma (19 disposals, four clearances) and Miles Bergman (17 disposals, five clearances) were also solid contributors playing mostly on the wings.

Sam Mayes did not feature at all before the bye after being held over as an emergency but his versatility will no doubt have some appeal to the selectors.

While it would be unlikely, mid-year draftee Brynn Teakle could also be thrown straight in, a week after landing at the club. The ruck/forward has been impressing at training with his strong hands and agility around the ground.

Port Adelaide will on Wednesday evening name its side to face the Tigers at the MCG on Thursday night.
